What I did
I was one of three apprentices allowed to go to the very top of scaffolding since almost everyone on our team was a minor. However, I was the main one of two team members who was willing to work at the highest point that even leaders didn’t want to work on.
I worked on the entire sky and stadium. I was mainly on cloud duty. I was also the main person to draw, correct, and paint the shoulders and up of the man in the red shirt. I corrected his entire face, head, and hat. I colored them in along with mixing some of his skin tones.
I corrected and drew the woman's hand in the green shirt. This was interesting as we decided to draw them with more structure than what was shown in the design. We also edited her forearms a teensy bit to have more structure like the faces. It could have been an issue with the file, but when blown up, they became swollen and uneven in thickness. Therefore, we were granted permission to give them more structure.
I painted a large amount of the brown ponytailed woman’s hair.
Anything from the middle of the windows and up I worked on. There were only about five of us able to work that high.
I was also nominated for the Biggie Award. Each mural team selects a team member to be up for the award based on work and teamwork. I was very gratefully chosen for our team's nomination!
Our Process
Our process was extremely silly. We had lots of fun in between looking at bugs, free drawing on breaks, playing with a random sand hill in the lot, and random drawing games.
In the beginning, we did practice gridding. Drawing a design on a small sheet of paper and handing it over to the next person to redraw on a larger piece of paper.
We then gridded the wall with chalk lines, drew everything out, and then painted.
We had some problem-solving with the wall being slanted as it was on a hill. We did our own measurements of the wall and mathed out how big our grid squares should be.
